Biography

- Starting writing in 1953
The important positions taken before 1975 (1954 - 1975), under the regime of
the Republic of Vietnam:
- Editor, General Secretary, Secretary of the daily newspapers,
weekly and monthly magazines
- Journalist Union Chairman
- Chairman of the Cooperative Housing for the Journalist Union
- Founder of the Press Village which consisted of over 300 units
- Chairman assistant of the Vietnamese Journalist Committee.
The author was accused of doing reactionary newspapers and was
kept in the Vietnamese Communist re-education camps for almost 10
years starting in April of 1976.
Under the protection of the following organizations: Pen Club,
Press Union, Vietnamese and International Human Rights. POW Family
Protective committee that intervened in defence, he was released
and resettled in the U.S. in May of 1999. He now lives in California.

Người ta biết Thanh Thương Hoàng là ký giả hơn là nhà văn, tuy anh đã cho xuất bản gần mười tác phẩm. Ấy là vì cái địa vị ký giả của anh “lớn” quá. Anh là Chủ tịch nghiệp đoàn ký giả VN, là Phó chủ tịch Hội đồng báo chí VN.
